“Wrong People Doing Wrong Tasks Almost Crushed Us”
When answered prayer looks like coincidence.
Though I am a cofounder of Workplace Prayer, my husband and I are also paying clients.
My husband has a tree service business, trimming and felling trees.
In May 2020, shortly before we started paying for prayer, he said, “Amy, we might not make it. We’re doing okay financially, and our clients like us, but enough things are not working … I’m not sure we’ll survive.”
But within a few months, after paying for prayer, everybody came into better alignment.
The three partners swapped tasks, so each one was able to work more in his skillset.
Things are not always easy—as a company they still have maintenance issues, and employee issues, and occasional interpersonal issues—but their business continues.
Periodically my husband will share about a new milestone of monthly revenue, or how a particular employee is working out well.
And that is, of course, beautiful to see.
However, the most amazing thing to me is that the business that was almost dead a couple of years ago now flourishes.

P.S. I did point out to my husband at one point: “You do realize that you had been complaining about the same issues, month in and month out, for a couple of years, and now, suddenly, within a few months of prayer coverage, you made some simple shuffles, and everything started working better. Do you see that this prayer coverage works?”
And he said something like, “It’s probably just a coincidence.”
He might have been yanking my chain.
Which is to say: answered prayer is not always easy to spot. It can be so subtle, it looks like coincidence.
