When You Need to Catch Your Breath: A Psalm 23 Prayer
“You let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.” A prayer for those weary and stretched-thin.
My business partner Bob Perry prayed this beautiful prayer from Psalm 23:2-3 in The Message.
In this Psalm of David, he says, “God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.”
I love how the Lord is our shepherd, and he allows us to catch our breath. We may feel we have been in a race with stress and pressure for years now.
Lord, I am declaring, in Jesus’ name, that you are giving us a new wind and a fresh breath of air. You lead us to rest so you can restore and strengthen us. You renew our hearts and our minds, allowing us the time to watch the sunrise and sunset.
Lord, I am asking in the midst of our battles, our loved ones’ battles, our business associates’ battles, that you will come and bring strength.
When we are weary, and it seems so tempting to throw in the towel and give up, give us a supernatural boost of faith, a strong faith that will help us overcome every circumstance, weariness, accusation, and stress.
Let us be refreshed and strengthened. Give us a new vigor, new energy, new courage, to endure and persevere.
You are a good and gracious God. You are our all-knowing Father, who lavishes us with love.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Before I found Bob, I longed to know more about how to pray over my family’s business effectively.
What a privilege, to have the opportunity to pray with him and the larger team.
We’d love to have you join us.
Be at peace,
Amy Joy
