The Guaranteed Way to Be the Answer to Your Prayers

The scripture tells us how to begin prayer: “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name” (Psalm 100:4).

It’s the cheat code on how to approach God.

Even Jesus, in the Lord’s Prayer, begins with praising God’s name: “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.”

It took me years before I realized why the scriptures insist on praise.

The next sentence in the Lord’s Prayer says, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

In Revelation 4 and 5, we see a picture of heaven, where worship and praise flow constantly.

So when we enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise, we are actually bringing heaven to earth, actually fulfilling and satisfying the prayer that Jesus asked his followers to pray.

At least in this regard, we get to be the answer to our own prayers!

On the Workplace Prayer calls on Tuesday morning, we spend the first ten minutes praising, before we turn to prayer for the last twenty.

It’s a bit of heaven on earth every week.
