Looking for a Prayer to Protect Your Sleep and Your Dreams?
Why wait for the nightmares? Pray preemptively over your sleep, and the sleep of your children.
I heard prayer minister Ken Polsley, in a Christian Healing Ministries conference, talk about how he had a season in his life where he was a pastor in a church. And either in the church itself, or in the surrounding community, they experienced quite a lot of occult activity.
A few times a year, he would wake in a panic from a dream.
“It wasn’t a big deal. I would rebuke the demons and send them to Jesus, and cut myself free from any ties, and then go back to sleep.
“But at one point, one of the parishioners asked, ‘Why are you allowing those dreams to happen?! You can pray preemptively for your sleep!’”
He had never thought of that. He had figured that, because he was asleep, how could he control what happens?
But when he looked at the dates of those dreams, he realized that they came on the unholy days (something dark, from the enemy).
How did he take authority?
He started to pray a prayer of protection and ask only for the Lord’s dreams.
“The Church needs to realize that it can be more preemptive and not so passive.”
He prayed a lovely prayer. It was something along these lines.
First, he asked people to make a sign of the cross on their foreheads.
Lord, we place the cross between us and our sleep. Protect all our dreams. Give us your dreams and your thoughts in the night. Protect that time.
We ask that you would give us deep sleep, where we awaken refreshed in the morning.
Blow over us as we sleep.
Thank you, Lord.
Send wave after wave of your peace in our sleep.
Thank you, Lord.
Remind us, Lord, before we fall us asleep, to clean the rooms of our hearts.
Remind us to pray for our sleep. Thank you for your protection.
It is such an honor to be in your presence. Such an honor and a joy. Amen.
The God of love and peace will be with you,
Amy Joy
I invite you to sign up for the Prayer Refresh, an email series with short prayers to pray as you go about your day. The first five readers all wrote me at different times and said, “This is changing my life.”
