Business People Need Prayer (Not Just Missionaries)
A missionary came to a business conference and left with a new conviction: entrepreneurs walk by faith, too.
Joy, a missionary to the UK who was temporarily in the States for home assignment, came to Workplace Prayer Live for some refreshing. At an event with local guests, and team members, and Workplace Prayer clients, Joy was the one anomaly. She had been on my daily email list for some years and could make the logistics work, but didn’t fit in the other three categories.
I talked to her before she headed home, and she said, “I gained a new perspective on prayer. I have always known that missionaries need prayer. We are, after all, going into dark places and seeking to offer the gospel to people who don’t yet know Jesus.
“But I’m coming away from this time with a new perspective on why business people need prayer.”
Entrepreneurs, too, have to walk by faith. Business people make difficult decisions. Finances and creativity, ideas and personnel issues, difficult work environments, problems beyond our own wisdom and ability … Christians in business seek to change the world.
This is difficult.
It may be impossible.
