# Fasting from Amazon Deliveries

I was talking to one of my friends this week about her fast.

“Often I find that deeper transformation comes, not from the dietary restrictions of a food fast, but from the deeper work of a soul fast.”

She had four soul fast things. 

One of them was no Amazon orders. "I realized I was getting a little too quick on the buy button. ‘I can solve this problem quickly and easily’ … but having some friction isn’t always bad.”

Of course, she can still buy whatever she needs. She has plenty of shopping options locally. But she has a chance to reset the habit. 

She has also been in a season of researching for her next season, and realized: my brain can take a rest from that for a few weeks. 

And this allows her to be more present in the moment. A focus on today.

And the fourth was to enjoy greater intimate friendship with Jesus. She had a picture of sitting with Jesus on a Saturday morning at a European café, drinking cappuccinos, talking together and enjoying each other’s company. How relational! How sweet! 

I loved her update, because the Lord is so specific and unique for each of us. 

And also because, five years ago, I maybe mentioned something about friendship with Jesus, and she was like: that does not compute at all.

So I am celebrating how good God is! He speaks to us and we can practice hearing his voice!

I’ve been noticing that every day has times of DEEP FRUSTRATION, and every day the Lord helps resolve those intensities.
