# Celebratory Provision Stories, Large and Small

A friend of mine was cleaning out her bedroom before a medical procedure when she found a pair of leggings that she had never opened—the exact article of clothing she would need after the procedure.

This testimony reminded me of the year I spent much of my birthday at the car dealership, waiting many hours for them to do what should have been a quick oil change. They were very apologetic. 

When I finally got home, I wondered if I could find anything in my snack cupboard that might be a fun treat. There I discovered an unopened [chocolate tasting](https://cocoafuture.org/collections?ref=blog.makeprayerbeautiful.com) that I had bought for Christmas, but we had been so inundated with sweets that I set it aside. I had entirely forgotten it, but it was a happy surprise. 

I mentioned these celebratory stories to Bob, and he recalled a time when one of his children was preparing to marry. This, during as tight a situation as he and his wife had ever faced. 

But one night Bob and Sharon looked at each other over dinner and said, "We're supposed to give $5,000 to our child for this wedding. We don't even have $5 for ourselves. 

“But what is the difference to the Lord, whether the need is $5 or $5,000?"

The next day brought a tax refund, unexpected and unlooked for, of about $5,050\. 

The couple planned carefully, and the Lord worked it out. 

Bob’s wedding provision story reminded me of a time that Phil and I went to my brother's wedding. We had budgeted carefully, but little things kept popping up. Taking a friend out to eat. Airport parking more than expected. Rental car insurance (which we actually used!). 

The total over was $498.53\. 

*Lord, I don't know what to do about this.*

Before the credit card bill came due, I got a check in the mail from a relative who had just sold his house. When Phil and I married five years before, the relative hadn’t given us a wedding present, and decided it was time: $500.

Perfect provision. 

*Lord, in this season, I can think of several people who are struggling with frustrating situations. Thank you that you provide. Please continue to do so.* 

*We welcome all of your miracles. Amen.*
